Slain JSQM worker laid to rest: Strike in Larkana; 3-day mourning announced

SHIKARPUR, March 28: Jeay Sindh Qaumi Mahaz (JSQM) activist Ahsan Ansari was buried in Garhi Yasin on Friday.

Ansari was murdered after being kidnapped in Karachi on Thursday.

JSQM chairman Basheer Qureshi accompanied the ambulance which brought Ansari’s body. The JSQM chief has announced a three-day mourning in Sindh.

Later, at a press conference, Mr Qureshi condemned the killing of Ansari by what he called terrorists in Karachi and termed it as a conspiracy against the Sindhi people.

He said that anti-Sindhi elements were bent upon to driving out Sindhis from Karachi and Ansari’s gruesome murder was a part of the plan.

The JSQM chairman demanded of Sindh government to arrest the culprits and award exemplary punishment to them.

He also threatened to take revenge against those who were involved in killing the JSQM activists and the other Sindhi people if they would not stop the terror.

STRIKE IN LARKANA: Responding to the call of the JSQM and protesting over the killing of Ansari, a complete strike was observed in Larkana, reports our correspondent from Larkana.

Main trade centres remained shut while the petrol outlets and shops in the city were closed when JSQM activists took to streets. They demonstrated at the main gate of Jinnabagh, burnt tyres and called for arresting the killers of Ansari.

In Qambar and Shahdadkot the JSQM workers held demonstrations and condemned the murder of their comrade.

In Ratodero Qureshi led a big rally. The rally emerged out from Motanpur and after marching on main roads they converged outside the local press club where they staged a sit-in.

Talking to journalists, Qureshi said that under a conspiracy the workers of JSQM were being kidnapped and killed in what he called ‘target killing’. He said Hakeem Notyar, Dilbar Mirani and now Ahsan Ansari was killed.

He said despite registering FIR nominating the killers police was trying to hush up the crime and saving killers.

Momin Samo, Manzoor Ghanghro, Roshan Joyo, Bashir Shar and other JSQM leaders also addressed the rally in Ratodero.
