Rs4 million okayed for Abbottabad development

ABBOTTABAD, April 20: The Abbottabad District Council on Saturday okayed Rs4 million schemes during a session of the council here, and also approved three resolutions — withdrawal of agriculture tax from the district; provision of Sui gas to some of the union councils and relief to the locals of Thai Toll Plaza from the toll tax on Abbottabad-Muree Road.

Minority councillors, women representatives and labour councillors had criticized the district government for not allocating funds for them.

District Nazim Mustafa Jadoon presented annual uplift plan which was okayed by the house. He said work was already in progress under the Khusahal Pakistan Programme, while after the approval of the Annual Development Programme, work on local schemes would be started shortly.

The Nazim said that a big chunk of Rs20.63 millions was being spent on the improvement of infrastructure of education in government schools in all the 46 union councils of Abbottabad District, funded by the NWFP.

Those who spoke during the session were Sajida Masood Advocate,Yasmeen Chudhary, Obedullah Emrild, Ahmed Nawaz Khan Jadoon, Sardar Hukam Dad, Sardar Gohar Zaman, Sardar Gulzar Abbasi, Saeed Mughal, Basheer Hussain Malik, Iftikhar Khan Jadoon and Tahir Faraz Abbasi Advocate.
