SA fined for slow over-rate

MUMBAI, March 31: South Africa were fined on Monday for maintaining a slow over-rate in the drawn first Test against India.

Captain Graeme Smith was ordered to forfeit 20 per cent of his match fee and each of his players received 10 per cent fines, the International Cricket Council (ICC) said.

Match referee Roshan Mahanama imposed the fine after Smith’s side were ruled to be two overs short of their time allotted bowling target in the Test which concluded in Chennai on Sunday.
