HYDERABAD: Worker-peasant unity stressed
HYDERABAD, April 4: The Seraiki Lok Party chief Zafar Lund has said that it would not be in the country’s interest not to give Sindhi and Seraiki people their democratic rights.
He was speaking at a function arranged by the Bhandar Hari Sangat in honour of the newly-elected leadership of Sindh Pohriat Council at Latif Nizamani labour hall here.
He said the Sindhis and Seraikis whose livelihood dependent on the Indus River share the same culture and confront similar problems.
He said the country had been intentionally pushed towards extremism by the vested interests. He said that through united efforts workers and peasants could bring about a revolution in the country.
The president of the Sindh Hari Pohriat Council, Punhal Sario said the council had reactivated peasants and workers on one platform for a joint struggle for their rights.
The leader of the Inqalabi Jamhoori Workers Committee, Hassan Nasir, stressed upon the need for reorganising the working class for their rights.
He said: “The relics of President Pervez Musharraf — military and civil establishment — were holding judiciary and media as hostage and democracy was in grave danger.”
He said through a joint struggle, imperialism, capitalism and feudalism could be defeated.
He said the common man had been economically destroyed and the working class had totally lost their purchasing power.
He said, therefore, it had become necessary to launch a consistent struggle on all fronts to get rid of them.
Ahmed Laghari, Comrade Hussain Bux Thebo, Photo Rustamani and others spoke on the occasion.
SEMINAR: Sindh Agriculture University Vice-chancellor Dr Basheer Ahmed Shaikh has said that Pakistan is earning huge foreign exchange through the export of agriculture produce which can be increased if perishable agricultural commodities are preserved. He was speaking at the concluding session of a three-day training course for the tomato growers at the campus.
