Flood severs Karachi-Quetta road link

QUETTA, April 4: The road link between Quetta and Karachi was cut on Friday when a road linking the Purali Bridge with the RCD Highway in the Bela area of Lasbela district was inundated after a flash flood.

Hundreds of buses, coaches, trucks and trailers and other vehicles were stranded on both sides of the bridge.

Official sources said heavy flood in Purali river triggered by continuous rainfall was hampering repair work.

Train service between Quetta and the rest of the country also remained suspended for several hours on Friday after a railway bridge was damaged by a blast near Quetta. Police said that tracks were safe.
