NEW DELHI, April 13: Indian Commerce Minister Kamal Nath has said that his country may be compelled to withdraw concessions given to Pakistan under the South Asia Free Trade Agreement (Safta) if Islamabad fails to reciprocate.

However, he expressed the hope that the new government in Pakistan would resolve the issue soon.

Talking to journalists here, Mr Nath said India had provided a series of concessions to Pakistan under Safta but Pakistan had not reciprocated. “We are looking at the situation.”

Pakistan had taken considerable time on the issue and if it did not take a decision

India might be compelled to withdraw the concessions, he said.—APP
