Protest against MQM held in London

LONDON, April 13: A group of about 50 Britons of Pakistani origin, including Pakistani students of the London School of Economics and the School of Oriental and African Studies, held an hour-long demonstration in front of MQM’s international secretariat here on Sunday in protest against the alleged role of Muttahida’s members in the April 9 bloody disturbances in Karachi.

The group, which goes under the banner of Campaign for Democracy in Pakistan (CFDP) set up by civil activists, lawyers, students, doctors and media persons of Pakistani origin, was waving placards with anti-Muttahida Qaumi Movement slogans.

They also raised slogans in favour of the lawyers’ movement in Pakistan for the restoration of judiciary dismissed by President Pervez Musharraf on November 3.

The MQM secretariat remained shut from inside throughout the demonstration.
