HYDERABAD: Music course test

HYDERABAD, April 17: The Centre for Music Education of the University of Sindh conducted written and technical test of candidates for admissions to four-month certificate course in music on Thursday.

The test of 34 candidates was held at the Institute of Sindhology and included written test and performance.

The candidates came from different parts of Sindh and had different educational background, ranging from matriculation to masters level. The test was conducted by music instructor Ustad Amir Ali, musicians Rajo Samrat, Mazhar Hussain and Nazar Hussain, in-charge of the centre Zulfiqar Ali and additional director of the Institute of Sindhology Mohammad Qasim Maka.

Mr Maka told journalists that more than 50 per cent of the 34 candidates had shown interest in learning classical music, 25 per cent in Sufi singing and the remaining in harmonium.
