NAUSHAHRO FEROZE: Police accused of subjecting labourers to torture

NAUSHAHRO FEROZE, April 18: Darya Khan Mari police have allegedly tortured two labourers and sprinkled red chillies on their wounds.

The relatives of the labourers, Abdullah and Habibullah Mubejo, complained to the sessions judge Naushahro Feroze, Rasheed Ahmed Soomro under Section 22-A, 22-B of CrPC.

The judge directed the Padidan SHO and incharge police picket Darya Khan Mari to appear in the court on April 26.Abdullah and Habibullah told reporters at Naushahro Feroze civil hospital that after returning from work, they were taking tea in a hotel, when police arrested them on Thursday evening and tortured them for whole night and used blades for torture.

They said the police arrested them for alleged involvement in a theft case in which they were not nominated.

The court sent them to hospital.

Dr Mohammad Ibrahim confirmed that there were cuts marks of blade on their bodies.

Man kidnapped: A youth was kidnapped from Halani on Thursday night.

Attaullah Rajput, a resident of Mehrabpur, after attending an engagement ceremony of his relative in Mohbat Dero was returning home at Halani.

As he was waiting for a conveyance on road for Mehrabpur some unidentified men kidnapped him.

The relatives came to know about the kidnapping when he contacted his brother Atta Mohammad on mobile phone and informed him that he was kidnapped and the kidnappers were taking him to some place.

SHO Mehrabpur, Ayaz Hussain Qureshi told Dawn that after receiving the information, SPO Mehrabpur, Abdul Aleem, SPO Kandiaro, Fida Hussain Awan and incharge DPO, DSP headquarters Akbar Wagan along with a heavy contingent of police reached Halani and followed the footprints.

The SHO said that the police had surrounded the area near Qazi tube-well and waiting for sniffer dogs called from Hyderabad.

Condemnation: Sindhi Adabi Sangat, district Naushahro Feroze on Friday, condemned the threats issued to central election committee and demanded protection.A meeting of Sindhi Adabi Sangat district Naushahro Feroze held here on Friday which was attended by office-bearers of seven branches out of total 12 and complained that some people were issuing threats of dire consequences to the central election committee in case they held elections on April 27.

The meeting was presided over by poet Haji Abdullah Shad Jalbani and attended by office-bearers including councillors Rana Sher Mohammad, Shabbir Halepoto, Jabbar Mallah, Bewas Bachalo, Munir Hingoro, Nawaz Bhatti, Ali Ahmed Siyal, Mazhar Khaskheli, Zahid Rajpar.

They also demanded that the elections on April 27 be held at some other place.
