PU VC tries to calm Law College students

LAHORE, April 18: Punjab University Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Mujahid Kamran has assured University Law College students that they will be provided academic leadership and their concerns will be allayed. Keeping in view students’ displeasure at the removal of the college's acting principal Ashfaq Ahmad Khan, Mr Kamran had decided to meet the students himself.

Prof Kamran said the university administration was following student-friendly policies. He said the administration wanted to promote full partnership at all levels and to ensure smooth continuity of classes.

The VC, however, made it clear the administration would not bow to pressure by any student group. He said the university was taking measures to keep PU pressure-free.

Accepting students' right to protest, Prof Kamran said a lack of communication was responsible for the problem at the law college.

PU Students Affairs adviser Dr Mujahid Ali Mansoori said the university was concerned at the academic leadership gap at the law college. He said a full-time professor doctor would be appointed college principal soon.

SPORTS GALA: The PU College of Pharmacy organised a four-day annual sports gala. At the prize distribution ceremony on Friday, Prof Kamran stressed that all students should take part in sports and other healthy activities.

He announced Rs200,000 cash prizes for distinguished students.
