Sheikh Rashid gets papers for NA-55

RAWALPINDI, April 23: Former federal minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed obtained nomination papers for by-election in NA-55 Rawalpindi-VI here on Wednesday. A man whose name was not mentioned in the record book obtained the papers from Returning Officer Khalid Mehmood Ranjah on behalf of the former minister who lost the Feb 18 elections to Makhdoom Javed Hashmi of PML-N from the same constituency.

Others who collected papers for the seat include Alamgir Butt, Zahid Hussain Qureshi and Sajid Abbasi. Bilal Shabbir Advocate collected papers for NA-52 and Zahid Hussain Qureshi for PP-10.

Meanwhile, two court bailiffs recovered two minor children from the Chontra area and handed them over to their mothers.

In the first case, Bailiff Malik Lal Khan raided the house of Mohammad Saeed in Chahan and recovered his 10-month-old son Mohammad Haseeb and handed him over to his mother Uzma Razzak who had sought his custody.

The complainant alleged that a few days ago she visited courts where her husband got her signatures on a blank stamp paper and snatched the child and sped away in a cab. She said she had also submitted a complaint to the area police in this regard.

In another case, bailiff Mirza Faisal raided the house of Waheed Akhtar in Pind Maloh and recovered his four-month-old son Mohammad Zawian and handed him over to her claimant mother Amina Mehwish.

Ms Mehwish had alleged that her husband and in-laws had snatched the minor and ousted her from the house. She sought the custody of the minor, saying he was too young to be kept away from his mother.

District and Sessions Judge Attaullah Kosar directed the parties in both the cases to appear in the court on April 28 for the settlement of the custody issues.
