Prisoners hold police officers in Lebanon jail
BEIRUT, April 24: Prisoners rioted, seized control of a building and held seven police officers captive at a jail in Lebanon on Thursday, a security source said.
Negotiators were trying to secure the release of the police officers after the riot at the jail in Roumiyeh, northeast of Beirut, the source said.
No one was wounded in the rioting, during which the prisoners had set ablaze clothing, he added. The prisoners’ demands were not immediately clear, he said.
