Govt asked to restore judges by 30th

LAHORE, April 24: The ruling coalition should reinstate the deposed judges by April 30 in accordance with the pledge it made with the nation, said participants of a seminar organised by Jamaat-i-Islami here on Thursday.

They warned through a joint declaration that lawyers, civil society and political parties would take to the streets if the coalition failed to reinstate judges and impeach President Pervez Musharraf by April 30.

Speaking on the occasion, JI’s Liaquat Baloch said the delay in the reinstatement of judges was providing the civil and military bureaucracy an opportunity to hatch conspiracies against the independence of judiciary.

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz’s Mujtaba Shujaur Rehman said his party would neither accept President Musharraf nor make a compromise on judges' reinstatement.

Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaaf's Ahsan Rasheed said President Musharraf’s impeachment was “demand of the entire nation”.

JI leader Hafiz Salman Butt and Lahore Bar Association President Manzoor Qadir and Secretary Lateef Khan were also present.
