Pakistan pair finish 13th: Bridge
KARACHI, April 25: Pakistan pair of Masood Mazhar and Tariq Rasheed Khan after a great start finished 13th in the pairs’ event of the fifth SAARC bridge tournament in Colombo, according to a message received here on Friday.
Displaying superb hands and playing tactically, the Masood-Tariq pair was placed second with 403 after first session behind Bangladesh pair of Feroze Ahmed-Moazzam Hossain and third place A.K. Mukhriee-Vijay Goel of India.
However, Pakistan pair could collect 304 in the second session which caused their slide to 13th with 707.50.
Indian pairs took all the top three positions.
Mukheriee-Goel secured the top spot with handsome score of 812.50 and Manas Mukhriee-Rana Roya (774) second and Sumit Mukheriee-Badal Das (756.50) were third out of over 100-pair competition.
The players belong to India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal and Sri Lanka.
Pakistan’s other pairs of Azwerul Haque-Dr P.O. Boaz, Neelofer-Najm and Tehsin Gheewala-Rashidul-Ghazi put up a disappointing show and finished below 25.—APP
