MINGORA: Militants set CD shop on fire in Matta

MINGORA, April 29: The local Taliban set a CD shop on fire in Gwaleri Labut area of Matta tehsil late Monday and threatened the barbers to refrain from trimming beards of people.

The militants also issued threatening letters to CD shops’ owners and barbers to switch over to other businesses otherwise their shops would be blown up with bombs.

Residents of the area said the militants reappeared in various localities of Swat district and resumed their activities, dictating the locals to obey their orders and halt propaganda against Taliban and their leaders.

In Namal area of upper Swat a group of militants visited a local bazaar and broke the locks of a CD shop, owned by Hussain son of Shah Alam. Taliban set the shop ablaze as a result CDs and other material of thousands of rupees lying in the shop reduced to ashes.

They also warned owners of other CD shops of dire consequences if they did not switchover to other businesses within 24 hours.

The militants also removed the posters and banners of leaders of various political parties displayed in the bazaar.

It may be recalled that a large number of troops have been stationed at Chuprial, only six kilometres from the Gwaleri Labut. However, the militants dared to rush to the locality and issued directives to the locals.
