Hizb leader killed

SRINAGAR, April 30: Indian forces in occupied Kashmir shot dead a senior leader of a militant group late on Tuesday, police said.

This year nearly a dozen senior Mujahideen have been killed in gunbattles in the troubled region, according to police.

Police identified the dead militant as Sajad Afghani and said he was a Pakistani national and “chief operations commander” of Harkatul Mujahideen.

Afghani was killed in an abandoned hospital building in Sopore town, north of Srinagar, a day after the “financial chief” of Hizbul Mujahideen was shot dead.—Reuters
