SANGHAR: Council deplores water shortage
SANGHAR, May 7: Shortage of water rendered most of the farmers unable to sow cotton at the most appropriate time, said District Council members during Wednesday’s session.
They deplored the daily seven to 10 hours of load-shedding as this was taking toll on the physical, psychological and financial status of Hesco consumers.
The members were of the view that because of the non-availability of irrigation water, even drinking water had become scarce. They condemned the failure of indiscriminate rotation to regulate irrigation water supply due to discrimination by the authorities. They said load-shedding had seriously affected business, day-to-day life, and medical interventions in hospitals.
The members also pointed towards flouting the Sindh Chief Minister’s orders regarding transfer and postings. They alleged Grade-16 officials were being posted in place of Grade-17 officers.—Correspondent
