ACBS to decide venue for 2009 Asian Snooker today
DUBAI, May 7: The Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Asian Confederation of Billiards Sports (ACBS) will be held here on Thursday to finalise the venues for the next two competitions.
Secretary of ACBS Syed Mehboob said that Iran is interested in hosting next year’s 25th Asian championship while no country has as yet bided for the 2009 Asian Under-21 Snooker Championship.
He said this is also an election year and as no body filed the nomination papers, the previous body would be re-elected with the official announcement in this regard to be made after the AGM.
Sindhu Pulsirivong of Thailand, who is the ACBS chief will preside over the meeting.
As vice president of ACBS, Asghar Valika will be attending too while Abdul Wahid Qadir will the be Pakistan delegate.
Delegates representing Afghanistan, Bahrain, China, Chinese Taipei, Hong Kong, India, Iran, Iraq, Japan, Jordan, Korea, Kuwait, Myanmar, Malaysia, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Syria, Qatar, Vietnam, Thailand and hosts United Arab Emirates would be attending the meeting.—APP
