Air travel to cost more

ISLAMABAD, May 7: The government has revised the rate of Federal Excise Duty (FED) on domestic and international air tickets.

The decision was taken at recent meeting of the Economic Coordination Committee of the cabinet on recommendations of the Airport Security Force (ASF) which had sought an increase in salary of its staff.

According to a notification issued here on Wednesday, the rate of FED would be 15 per cent of charges plus Rs20 per ticket on services provided or rendered in respect of travel within Pakistan and international travel to or from Pakistan.

The rate will be Rs3,240 for economy and economy plus classes and Rs4, 240 for club, business and first classes on passengers embarking to or from the Saarc region, the UAE (Middle East), Saudi Arabia, Africa and Afghanistan.

The rate of FED will be Rs4,240 for economy and economy plus classes and Rs5,740 for club, business and first classes on passengers embarking to or from Europe, Far East, China, USA, Canada, Australia and South America.—Staff Reporter
