Balochistan to join talks on IPI gas pipeline

QUETTA, May 12: The Balochistan cabinet was informed on Monday that Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani had assured the province that it would be represented in every meeting of the IPI gas project as one of the stakeholders.

The cabinet in its first meeting decided that 350,000 tons wheat would be purchased from Punjab to meet the flour shortage.

The meeting was of the view that the reconciliation process was moving ahead and former chief minister Sardar Akhtar Mengal was released after all cases against him had been withdrawn by the government.

“Withdrawal of cases against Sardar Mengal and his release are major steps in promoting the process of reconciliation in the province,” the meeting said.

It was informed that Chief Minister Aslam Raisani had recommended to the federal government to restore the old administrative system and levies force in the province.

It was suggested that steps should be taken for early rehabilitation of internally displaced persons who had migrated from Dera Bugti and Kohlu districts and all missing people would be traced without any delay.
