MINGORA: Prayer leader among two killed in Swat

MINGORA, May 16: Two persons including a prayer leader were killed and one other was injured in separate incidents in Kabal tesil of Swat valley on Friday.

A prayer leader identified as Maulvi Qaimiul Zaman was killed by eight armed assailants wearing masks at his home after barging into his home at the wee hours of Friday.

The assailants fled after committing the crime.

Nizam Ali, the brother of the slain Qaimiul, told police that his brother had no enmity with any body.

However, he said that his slain brother was against the militant activities of hardliner cleric Maulana Fazlullah and his supporters in Swat.

The deceased had criticised Fazlullah’s way of fight for the enforcement of Shariah during sermons he delivered at the mosque.

The deceased Maulvi Qaimi also disliked the local Taliban’s attacks on government installation and suicide bombings, as well as setting fire to girls’ schools.

Nizam Ali suspected the hand of Maulana Fazlullah’s men in the brutal murder of his brother Maulvi Qaimi.

In another incident, one person identified as Rehmat

Ali son of Asfandyar was killed on Friday and another person Mohammad Imran son of Khaista Gul resident of Nowshera was injured in Nengolai area of

Kabal tehsil over a family dispute.

The police have lodged an FIR against unidentified outlaws, who fled the scene after the crime.
