HYDERABAD: Retired Wasa employees receive payment
HYDERABAD, May 18: District Nazim Kanwar Naveed Jamil here on Saturday distributed cheques for Rs5,236,940 among 30 retired employees of Wasa as payment of pension and other dues.
Speaking at a ceremony held at his secretariat, the nazim said that all retired Wasa employees had been paid their outstanding dues.
Director General of HDA Altaf Hussain Memon, secretary Shoukat Hayat Bhutto, director accounts Qaisar Ahmed and a large number of other officers of the district government attended the ceremony.
Kanwar Naveed Jamil said that the Sindh government had also provided financial assistance in clearing the outstanding dues of retired employees. He said Wasa had spent more than Rs5,000 million on completing and improving various water supply and sewerage projects to provide modern amenities to people.
He, however, regretted that some consumers avoided to pay their outstanding dues and added that if everyone realised his responsibility and paid his dues regularly and on time, they could be provided more facilities.
He said the outstanding dues could also be recovered through legal procedure but this will create difficulties for consumers.
The WASA employees, he said, were also not making all-out efforts to recover the outstanding dues from the consumers.
