HYDERABAD: Committee to probe anomalies in education dept: nazim
HYDERABAD, May 21: Jamshoro District Nazim Malik Asad Sikandar said that between 2004 and 2005 illegal promotions, postings and transfers were made at massive scale while favouritism was the order of the day.
He was talking to different delegations which called on him at his secretariat on Wednesday.
He said an education policy was being formulated by the district government to ensure that transfer of teachers could be made only at the end of the academic year so that the education of children would not affect.
He said that teaching and non-teaching staff were transferred illegally to Jamshoro district from other areas which had filled all the posts.
He said a committee had been formed to investigate into the irregularities and action would be taken against corrupt officials on the report of the committee.
He said committees had been constituted at the district, taluka and UC level, which will visit different schools and file their reports adding that action will be taken against the teachers and the staff in case any one was found guilty of dereliction of duty.
He directed the EDO education to appoint teachers commensurate with the strength of students in each school and post surplus teachers to those schools where shortage has been reported.
He said he was determined to eliminate corruption from the education department and added that proper utilisation of funds will be ensured.
He said people had done their duty by giving a massive mandate to their representatives and it was now the duty of elected representatives to resolve the problems of their constituents at their door steps. He told nazims and councillors that unless they helped the people in the resolution of their problems they will be rejected in the next local bodies elections.
He claimed that the district government was taking revolutionary steps to improve the standard of education in the schools.
