ISLAMABAD, May 22: PML-N leader Mian Mohammad Nawaz Sharif has said that despite domestic compulsions, the new government is committed to peace with India.

In an interview with Indian channel NDTV, Mr Sharif said he supported the India-Pakistan dialogue process.

“We laid the foundation by signing the historic Lahore document with Mr Vajpayee for initiating the dialogue process effectively,” he said.

The PML-N chief said he was serious and sincere about resolving all outstanding issues between the two countries and moving forward for economic development, adding that a good beginning had been made during his tenure as prime minister.

The former prime minister pointed that the composite dialogue process was launched in 2004 which was a major step for resolving bilateral disputes.—APP
