Action against 103 housing colonies

LAHORE 25, May 24: The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has started an operation against 103 unauthorised housing schemes in the provincial metropolis.

This was stated by authority’s director-general Irfan Ali during a visit to the LDA Complex here on Saturday.

Metro planning and Town planning officials told the DG that the site office of Doctors Society and four boundary walls had been demolished on Friday.

The director-general was further informed that the Estate Management Directorate of the authority had completed a survey of unauthorised constructions in Johar Town, Gulshan-i-Ravi, Sabzazar and Allama Iqbal Town housing schemes and issued demolition notices to the owners.

He directed the LDA officials to ensure proper scrutiny of record before issuing ownership documents to the katchi abadi residents to ensure that proprietary rights were transferred to the deserving only.

Meanwhile, the Water and Sanitation Agency has completed desilting of the Mianmir Drain from Sherakot to H-Block in Sabzazar Scheme, Cantonment Drain from Infantry Road to Arif High School , Sattokatla Drain from Peco Chowk, Maulana Shaukat Ali Road, to Muslim Town Chowk, Lahore Township, Chhota Ravi Drain from A-Block China Scheme to A-Block Tubewell and Allama Iqbal Drain from Nilam Block to Dubai Chowk under the crash programme.
