HYDERABAD: Police clear prime accused in brutalised cop’s case
HYDERABAD, May 26: Police have submitted a charge-sheet in the case of the brutalised policeman, Ali Hassan Solangi, to the sixth extra joint civil and judicial magistrate, clearing three prime accused of charges on the basis of their alibis.
According to Hatri police’s investigation wing, the challan submitted two days ago cleared Qasimabad Taluka Nazim Noor Mohammad Shoro, his brother, Deedar Shoro and his nephew, Jam Khan Shoro of charges levelled against them by Solangi.
The rest of four accused Sahib Khan, Haneef Shoro, Ganwar Chandio and Hayat Chandio, who are on pre-arrest bail, have been challaned.
Senior Investigating Officer Ghulam Nabi Panwhar said that the three prime accused were cleared after they produced documentary evidence in support of their alibis and its verification by police.
The documents purportedly proved that Jam Khan Shoro had stayed in Islamabad when the incident took place in March and had had also drawn some cash from a bank during his stay there, said the police officer.
He said that Deedar Shoro was hospitalised in Karachi and Noor Mohammad Shoro was attending to him at the hospital. Police had obtained the doctor’s statement and the hospital’s record proving their stay there, he said.
Nevertheless, the names of the accused had been put in column-2 of the charge sheet, leaving it to court either to try or exonerate them as it deemed fit, he said.
The remaining four accused who had been challaned have obtained pre-arrest bails and police have moved an application, seeking cancellation of their bail.
The court has fixed May 27 for hearing the case and June 7 for hearing the actual attempted murder case.
Ali Hassan Solangi, a police constable who was posted at of Pinyari police station, was kidnapped on March 24 when he was coming out of a mosque in Hatri area.
A car took him to Deh Shah Bukhari where his captors chopped off his hands at the wrist joints, threw acid on his face, fractured one leg and shot at the other.
Police lodged a case against the above-mentioned persons on the complaint of his nephew. The prime accused enjoy backing of some high-profile leaders of the Pakistan People’s Party, it is learnt.
