Call to end discrepancy in PIA staff salaries

RAWALPINDI, May 26: The Pakistan International Airlines Officers Association (Rawalpindi-Islamabad) has appealed to the new Managing Director PIA Captain Ijaz Haroon to remove the discrepancy in salaries of staff serving in the same scale in different departments.

In a statement, president of the association Manzur Khan said the unjustified difference in pension benefits of cockpit crew and other staff should be removed and the old system of promotion on the basis of seniority should be restored.

He lauded the steps taken by Captain Haroon to remove what he said the former ‘corrupt’ administration which caused colossal financial losses to the airlines.

He also drew the attention of the new managing director towards the medical fund unlawfully received by the former administration, and demanded that the funds be returned to the staff in order to remove their grievances.

He also demanded increase in the salary of staff in view of the rising inflation.

Saying that the existing schedule of flight service is against human tolerance, he called upon the new administration to revise the schedule so as to serve the passengers in a better way.
