Quake rocks Taipei

TAIPEI, June 1: A strong earthquake measuring 6.0 on the Richter scale rocked Taiwan on Sunday, the Central Weather Bureau said.

There were no immediate reports of damage or casualties.

The tremor, which could be felt in most of northern Taiwan, struck at 1659 GMT Sunday and was centred 20 kilometres north of the northeastern city of Yilan at a depth of 95.7 kilometres, the bureau said.—AFP
