CHITRAL: A ‘faulty’scale ends up in river

CHITRAL, June 3: In a fit of rage, a ‘faulty’ weighing scale of the food department was thrown into a river by the district nazim but he stopped short of taking an action against the concerned officials who were giving people less wheat, sources said here on Tuesday.

The nazim reportedly detected a fault in the gadget during a surprise visit to the godown of the food department. There was a difference of 3kg in a 50kg bag of wheat when compared with other scales.

Earlier, the nazim had ordered the godown officials to replace the scale but they could not change it. They were unable to give a satisfactory reason for the fault. The nazim, however, only warned the officials to abandon illegal practices of looting the poor.
