UAE plans for education, medical treatment visas

ABU DHABI, June 8: A new fee structure for the UAE visit visa will be in place from August 1. The government has also decided to issue special visas for education and medical treatment.

Health insurance has been made compulsory for all visitors and it will be paid by the sponsor at the time of issuance of the visa, according to an announcement made here on Sunday.

The education visa will cost Dh1,000, renewable for a fee of Dh500. The validity of the visa will depend on the educational course.

The medical visa will cost Dh1,000 for three months and may be renewed for another three months for a fee of Dh500.

Instead of getting workers on visit visas, companies can bring in workers from other countries on mission visas allowing them a stay of three months and cost the companies Dh200. They could not be renewed.

Tourist visas would cost Dh100, allowing one month stay and could be renewed for another month for a fee of Dh500. Travel and tourism agencies will be required to pay a refundable guarantee of Dh1,000 for each visa.

A non-renewable visit visa issued for conferences and exhibitions will be for a stay of one month and cost Dh100.

The fee for a six-month multiple entry visit visa is Dh2,000 allowing a stay of 14 days on each visit. The visa will be renewable for another six months for a fee of Dh2,000.

The fee for a long stay (three months) visit visa is Dh1,000 and that for a short stay of one month Dh500. This visa will not be renewable.

A non-renewable transit visa will allow a stay of 14 days and cost Dh100.

Visit visas for expatriates residing in Gulf Cooperation Council states will allow a stay of one month and cost Dh100, and may be renewed for another month for a fee of Dh500.
