Rs10m Zakat distributed in Okara

OKARA, May 2: At least Rs10 million have been distributed among the deserving people through 981 Zakat Committees in the district.

This was stated by district Nazim Syed Sajjad Haider at a function in which the District Zakat Committee chairman distributed Rs0.5 million cheques to the deserving people.

DZC chairman Col Abdul Qayyum (retired) told participants that the committee had always adopted a transparent procedure for the distribution of zakat to the deserving.

DIES: The mother of former OSD and ex-district bar secretary Abdul Shakoor Minhas advocate died due to cardiac arrest here on Thursday. She was 80.

She was laid to rest in the local Ghorrey Shah graveyard.

Scores of people, including former MNA Rao Sikander Iqbal, former MPAs Muhammad Yar Khan Lashari and Chaudhry Ikramul Haq, attended her funeral prayers.

Qul will be held on Friday (today) at 9 am at her residence at Canal View Park near the District Courts Complex.

SUSPENDED: The telephone inquiry number of the Okara City railway station has been suspended for the last one year on account of the non-payment of bill.

Citizens have to contact Sahiwal railway station inquiry to get required information about the train timings.

Social circles and citizens have urged the authorities concerned to get restored the facility at the earliest.
