Suddle will remain in govt service
KARACHI, June 18: The Establishment Division on Wednesday evening issued a notification saying that “In pursuance of court order Dr Shoaib Suddle will remain in government service till further orders”, subject to review petition filed by the government.
Earlier, a three-member bench of the Supreme Court, comprising Mr Justice Abdul Hameed Dogar, Chief Justice, Mr Justice Ijaz-ul-Hasan and Mr Justice Chadhury Ejaz Yousaf issued on judgment on a petition by SP Shahid Hayat.
The bench held that the denial to the petitioner of his right to serve the department without any fault on his part is established in the present case, which brought humiliation and suffering to the petitioner.
“Therefore we are inclined to hold that the petitioner should be allowed to serve for a period of two years and three months - equivalent to the interrupted period of his service from Nov 1996 till Feb 1999.” The respondents are directed to take appropriate measures in this regard.
The benefit of this judgment shall also be available to other police officers who were implicated along side the petitioner in the aforesaid criminal case.
A total of 19 policemen have benefited from the court’s relief including five PSP officer including the present PPO Sindh Dr Shoaib Suddle, Shahid Hayat, Wajid Ali Durrani, Shakaib Ahmed Durrani and Rai Muhammad Tahir.
