Budget anomalies removed

KARACHI, June 25: A delegation of businessmen and industrialists headed by KCCI President Shamim Ahmed Shamsi has discussed anomalies and issues of budget 2008-09 with Federal Board of Revenue Chairman Abdullah Yousuf to get them resolved.

According to a Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry press release issued on Wednesday the meeting was held here on Tuesday and after three-hour long deliberations following decisions were taken:

With regard to new sales tax return it was decided to drop the condition of providing NTN or NIC number of unregistered buyers, it was also decided to drop the condition of providing production report along with return, however, it will continue to be provided as per previous mode;

With regard to Sales Tax Section 8-B SRO.529 (1) of 11-06-08 the words ‘Wholesaler’ and ‘Distributors’, would be included and this anomaly would be removed and condition of 10 per cent carry forward would not be applicable to wholesaler and distributors;

With regard to imposition of withholding tax on AOP and individuals, it was decided to exclude
