HYDERABAD: Open sale of liquor in Thatta condemned

HYDERABAD, June 26: Leaders of Brohi Welfare Association have alleged that liquor is being openly sold in Thatta town which severely affecting the young generation.

While speaking at a news conference at the press club here on Thursday, the leaders of the association, who are also JUI-F leaders, Moulana Mohammad Saleh Khaliq, Moulana Ghani and others said that the Thatta DPO had imposed a ban on protest demonstrations and press conferences therefore they were forced to come to Hyderabad to voice their grievances and to inform authorities about the social evils that have taken roots in Thatta.

They pointed out that Thatta was an ancient religious and spiritual hub which was associated with the names of Moulana Makhdoom Mohammad Hashim Thattvi and Abdullah Shah Ashabi.

They complained that in this religious city, liquor was openly sold and consumed because the contractors of liquor shops were close linked with some high-ups.

They said that youths of Thatta were being destroyed and the peaceful atmosphere was being polluted.

They appealed to the Sindh chief minister, home minister, RPO and DIG police of Hyderabad, district nazim and DCO of Thatta to cancel all the licences of liquor houses and take legal action against the contractors of liquor houses.
