HYDERABAD: Govt wants to restore judges: AG
HYDERABAD, June 28: Advocate General of Sindh Mohammad Yousuf Leghari said on Saturday that the government, Pakistan Bar Council and the legal fraternity shared the common commitment to reinstatement of deposed judges and they differed only on legal interpretation and modalities.
Mr Leghari said over a cup of tea with journalists at the press club jurists had different interpretations on all legal issues just like different newspapers gave different headings to the same story. But there was no doubt the government and the legal fraternity wanted reinstatement of judges, he stressed.
He said that as advocate general he was committed to the cause of justice and the people of the province by giving correct legal advice to the provincial government on all legal issues.
“All my life, I have either represented the complainant or the defendant in different courts of law. I am doing the same job now by defending the Sindh government in courts and by briefing the Sindh Assembly on legal issues,” Mr Leghari said.
He stressed that as directed by the chief minister he would not allow his office to become an office of a political party.
