Mali asks ICC nations to behave: Champions Trophy in Pakistan
KARACHI, June 30: The International Cricket Council (ICC) President Ray Mali has warned all members’ countries against showing reluctance on touring Pakistan for the participation in the September’s ICC Champions Trophy, as they could also be deprived of the ICC support in future
Sources told Dawn that Mali, who is a keen supporter of Pakistan and has backed them as the hosts of the Champions Trophy, asked Australia, England and New Zealand not to show reluctance in visiting Pakistan as it would harm the promotion of the game and they could well face similar situation from some countries while hosting any ICC event in the future.
According to reports, some countries are not willing to visit Pakistan for the Champions Trophy due to security reservations.
Though Mali has been pleading Pakistan’s case, the final decision is to be taken by the executive board in the next couple of days, as Mali’s post is rather an honorary one.
