Man kills brother

RAWALPINDI, July 2: A man was shot dead by his brother with the help of a cousin in the Saddar Bairooni area in the early hours of Wednesday.

According to the FIR registered on the complaint of the wife of the deceased, Azhar and Babar called Zahid out of his house in Dhoke Raika Misriot at 2am and shot him dead.

The killers had a grudge with Zahid who had appeared in the court as witness against his uncle who is in Adiala jail for allegedly killing his grandson. Both Azhar and Babar were furious with Zahid for giving a statement in the court against their uncle.

The autopsy report confirmed that the deceased was shot in the chest with a 30-bore pistol. Police have started investigations and the accused have yet to be arrested.

Meanwhile an additional district and sessions judge (ASJ) issued warrants for the arrest of medical officer of the district headquarters hospital who had failed to appear in court in a murder case.

ASJ Abdul Noor Nasir issued non-bailable arrest warrants of Dr Qasim for not appearing in the court which was hearing a case of Adil Islam’s murder and directed the police to produce him in the court on July 9.

Our staff reporter from Islamabad adds: A man was shot and injured, while robbers and auto thieves struck at four places in the capital city and made of with cash and vehicles here on Wednesday, police said.

Two motorcycle riders opened fire on a car when its occupants were returning from a bank at I-9 Markaz after drawing Rs600,000. However, they missed their target.

The culprits managed to stop the car at Sector I-8/1. One of the riders pulled out a pistol and shot the driver in the leg when they failed to open the doors of the car. Later, they escaped from the scene.

The injured was shifted to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences for treatment.

Police ruled out the likelihood of robbery, saying that the culprits neither snatched the money nor demanded it. There is a possibility that the incident occurred due to enmity, they added. Two vehicles, one that of an assistant director in the National Highway Authority, were stolen from Sector G-8, while a motorcycle was lifted from Sector G-10.

Some culprits snatched cash Rs35,000 and mobile phone from a Somalian national in Sector G-11.
