Doctors on deputation to report at parent office

SANGHAR, July 2: The deputation of doctors in Sindh has been cancelled and they have been directed to report at the place of their duty.

From July the basic health units, rural health centres and dispensaries have also been handed over to NGOs.

This was stated by provincial health secretary Shafique Ahmed Khoso on Wednesday while talking to reporters at Civil Hospital Sanghar.

He said polio eradication was our first priority.

The secretary said officials were still investigating the polio case at Bhit Bhaiti near Khipro where a nine-year-old boy, Jalal Rajar, was reported to have been hit by polio virus.

He said in the past doctors were posted at one place and took salary and allowances from there but were actually working at some other place or department.

He said such doctors have to work at the place where they have been posted.

Mr Khoso said that inquiry would be conducted into the cases where doctors at Civil Hospital had refused to perform duties according to the new schedule issued by the medical superintendent of Sanghar.

He said hospitals in rural areas would be upgraded and latest equipments will also be provided there.

He said that availability of medicines should be ensured and added that no patient should be referred to other hospital to save him from difficulties.

About Dr Farooq Awan
