HYDERABAD: Magsi warns PPP against followingMusharraf

HYDERABAD, July 10: Sindh Taraqqi Pasand Party chairman Dr Qadir Magsi said on Thursday that the Pakistan People’s Party government had weakened itself by toeing the policies of President Pervez Musharraf and sharing power with Muttahida Qaumi Movement.

Adressing party workers, Magsi said: “Surprisingly, the MQM was rewarded with 13 ministries after an incident of firing on the Bilawal House, and again there were reports the MQM was being given ministries in the federal cabinet after recent series of bomb blasts in Karachi.”

How could such a weak government, which was pursuing the failed policies of Gen Musharraf protect the life, property, honour and fundamental rights of the people, Mr Magsi asked.

He wondered whose interests the PPP was protecting by refusing to reinstate the deposed judges. Rule of law was impossible without independence of judiciary, he said.

The PPP’s failure in meeting its 100-day targets and promises had disappointed people and made its allies disenchanted and disgruntled, he said.

The government’s writ was nowhere visible and President Musharraf and the establishment had managed to regain their grip on power as the PPP had alienated itself from people, leaders of public opinion and PML-N, he said.

Even the ANP and the JUI were complaining against the PPP, he said.
