Sahiwal gets passport office
SAHIWAL, July 11: A passport office was inaugurated here near Pakpattan Chowk on Friday.
The passport office, which has been opened in a rented building, will facilitate people of Sahiwal, Okara, Vehari and Pakpattan districts.
Earlier, people of these districts had to go to Multan to get passports. Pakistan People’s Party MNA Malik Ghulam Farid was chief guest on this occasion.
The invitation card also had the names of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz MNA Pir Imran Shah and MPA Nadeem Kamran, but none of them turned up.
Sahiwal Chamber of Commerce and Industry has provided transformer for the passport office.
Protest: Pesticide dealers along with traders’ representatives staged a two-hour sit-in outside Jinnah Shopping Centre in protest against a Rs320,000 million dacoity at Hamza Traders on Thursday evening.
They demanded the arrest of dacoits. All pesticides shops were shut for two hours. Hakim Shahnawaz Anjum, PPP Sahiwal Human Rights Wing president, visited the camp and showed his party solidarity with the protesters. No police official visited the camp. Those who spoke were: Hakim Mujahid and Muhammad Mahboob Alam.
