Noppachorn ends Saleh’s run

KARACHI, July 12: Thailand’s Noppadon Noppachorn sneaked into the quarter-finals of the 6-Red Snooker International, ending the winning streak of Pakistan’s Saleh Mohammad with an imposing 6-4 victory at Bangkok on Friday night.

According to results made available here, the Thai who captured the Asian crown at home in 1999, won the best of 11 frames battle 37-26, 70-0, 42-11, 29-32, 35-41, 50-0, 31-41, 46-21, 21-42, 32-27.

Earlier, Saleh progressed to the knockout stage by finishing on top of group ‘E’ winning all five matches.

He whipped New Zealand’s Dene O’ Kane 6-1 to enter the pre quarter-finals earlier on Friday.

His compatriot Mohammad Sajjad failed to make an impact in group ‘H’.
