11 dealers held for selling Sims illegally

SIALKOT, July 21: Eleven dealers were arrested for selling Sims of different cell phone companies to the people without keeping copies of their NICs and proper legal formalities here on Monday.

DSP Waseem Akhtar told reporters that police had sent the accused dealers, Nadeem, Hassan, Aftab, Waqas, Murad, Qadeer, Furqan, Nazir, Bilal Hyder, Jamshaid and Babar behind the bars.

Police have registered separate cases against the accused under section 4/5 of Prohibited Electronics Ordinance 2007 and 420 PPC.

Further investigation is underway.

ARRESTED: Bambaanwala police on Monday claimed to have arrested four fleeing robbers after an encounter from the fields near Lakhan village, Daska.

Police said armed robbers tried to loot the houses of some villagers, but some people announced criminals’ presence on the mosque’s loudspeaker. On seeing a big gathering of villagers, the accused escaped and entered into the fields when the villagers chased them.

In the meanwhile, a heavy police contingent reached there and besieged the fields which forced the accused to lay down their arms after a brief encounter.

DPO Capt Muhammad Ameen (retired) told reporters that the arrested accused, Abdul Hamid, Jamshed, Gulfam Mushtaq and Adeel Nawaz, were wanted in more than two dozen cases of heinous nature.

INJURED: Six people were injured seriously when a speeding van overturned near the BRB canal bridge on Daska-Sialkot Road on Monday.

Some victims told reporters that the accident occurred because the driver fell asleep. The injured were identified as Ali Ahmad, Mian Ashraf, Khawar Hussain, Salma, her husband Shafi and children Zeeshan Ali and Sarfraz. They were admitted to the Daska THQ Hospital in critical condition.

Daska City police are looking into the matter.
