HYDERABAD: Philanthropists urged to pay prisoners’ fine

HYDERABAD, July 22: Sindh Minister for Fisheries Zahid Ali Bhurgari has urged philanthropists and social welfare organisations to help destitute women prisoners get release by paying their fines.

He said at a ceremony for distribution of sewing machines among prisoners at the Women’s Prison of the Central Jail on Monday that the jail authorities should convert prisons into correction facilities to enable prisoners to earn livelihood.

He said that the philanthropists and social welfare organisations could play a vital role in reforming prisoners in jails. The minister inspected ongoing work on the construction of juvenile prison.—Bureau
