KOHAT: Blast damages cellphone tower
KOHAT, July 27: A blast damaged the switch room of a cellphone tower in Bilitang area, a stronghold of local Taliban, on Rawalpindi Road on late Saturday night.
The militants had planted a bomb on the roof of the switch room of Ufone tower, which exploded at around 12 am, local police said. A hole was made in the roof due to the blast. The watchman remained unharmed in the incident. The watchman Farhatullah informed the Saddar Police about the incident. A case was registered case against unidentified militants.
LAND ALLOTTED: The NWFP minister for housing has ordered the district revenue officer to immediately allot 2 kanal of land to the Wild Life Department, which has been functioning in a rented building.
The Minister for Housing and Planning, Amjid Afridi, visited the Wild Life office on Saturday, where he was briefed about the parks and other facilities.
The DFO, Mohammad Israr, informed that there were 32 game reserves, three Wild Life parks and 16 nature clubs in Kohat district. Recently, three lions and a lioness had been added to a new wild life park for breeding.
He requested the minister to provide a 2 kanal land to the department for the construction of its own office.
