Seven robbers held with Rs2m booty

KASUR, July 29: Police claim to have arrested seven robbers and recovered from them looted valuables worth Rs2 million and illegal weapons.

Kasur District Police Officer Rao Abdul Kareem said at a press conference that in the awake of rising crime rate in Sadar police precincts he formed a police team, which arrested ringleader Khalil and his accomplices Maqsood, Irshad, Ghaffar, Nadeem, Yaseen and Abbas from their hideout.

He said police recovered from them three snatched tractor-trolleys, cell phones, Rs30,000 in cash and other valuables. He said the police wanted the accused in 29 cases of robbery in Kasur, Sahiwal, Rahim Yar Khan and Sadiqabad. strangles A man allegedly strangled his fiancé after she refused to marry him, in Khudian police precincts on Tuesday.

Muhammad Aslam of Veeram Hathar village was engaged to Khadija of the same village about two years ago. After some time, Khadija refused to tie the knot with Aslam and ended her engagement with him. Provoked Aslam stormed into her house on Tuesday and strangled her.

Police have arrested Aslam and registered a case against him.

FAMILY ROBBED: Five robbers deprived three of a family of their gold ornaments, cell phones and cash in Changa Manga police precincts on Tuesday.

Khalid Mahmood was going to Changa Manga’s Chak 17 along with his wife and sister to attend a marriage ceremony. Five robbers stopped him on his way to Chak 17 and deprived him and the women accompanying him of 10 tola gold ornaments, Rs5,000 cash and two cell phones.

ELECTROCUTED: A farmer was electrocuted here on Tuesday. Muhammad Younas was working in his fields when he touched a live fence around an adjacent field.
