FPCCI trade mission to visit Turkey

KARACHI, July 30: A delegation of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry will visit Istanbul to attend an international business congress from Oct 22.

During a meeting between Amjad Rafi, chairman, FPCCI’s Pakistan-Turkey Business Council of Federation, and Murat Yalcintas, President, Istanbul Chamber of Commerce and Industry, at the Federation House, various proposals for promotion of bilateral trade and economic relations between the two countries were discussed.

Need for direct shipping between Pakistan and Turkey in view of the quantum of cargo being exchanged between the two countries was also underlined.

Mr Rafi said that transportation of goods through land would boost bilateral trade. He informed that the Islamic Development Bank had approved a plan of financial assistance to lay railway tracks between Pakistan and Iran.

Murat Yalcintas appreciated the role played by the Pakistan-Turkey Business Council in the promotion of bilateral trade which has now touched $800 million.—APP
