HYDERABAD: Hesco inks deals with private producers

HYDERABAD, July 30: The Hyderabad Electric Supply Company signed two agreements with private producers for supply of 11MW power daily to the utility, on Wednesday.

An agreement was signed between the chiefs of Hesco and Al-Abbas Energy Limited under which the latter would produce electricity from bio-gas in Mirwah Gorchani and Mirpurkhas and supply around 7.6MW daily to former for Rs5.14 per unit.

The second agreement was signed between Hesco and Anood Textile Mills Limited Nooriabad under which the latter would supply 3.2MW produced through gas to former at the rate of Rs4.15 per unit.

Hesco chief informed of inking more such agreements with eight textile units for supply of another 40MW. The mills are Fateh Textile Mills Kotri, Sapphire Textile Mills Kotri, Standard Textile Mills Kotri, Aagar Textile Mills Kotri, Dewan Textile Mills No.1 and No.2 Kotri, Nagina Textile Mills Kotri and Ghani Spinning Energy Kotri.

He said these agreements had been necessitated as the company was facing shortage of 480MW which results in six hours of loadshedding in urban and of eight in rural areas, daily.

He said Rs20 billion electricity charges was outstanding against government organisations and private consumers for which special recovery teams and a task force had been constituted.
