KARACHI: Two die from electrocution

KARACHI, Aug 3: Two people were electrocuted on Sunday as a weakening rain-bearing monsoon system, crossing over southern Sindh, headed towards Balochistan.

Almost every part of the city experienced prolonged power outages with the city receiving light rain overnight that continued till noon in parts of the city.

During the past 24 hours, the Met office said, the city received an average of 9.5mm rainfall.

A Met official predicted that there were chances of light rain in parts of the city during the next 24 hours.

A 41-year-old man was killed when he received fatal electric shocks from the iron gate of his house in Hijrat Colony.

The Artillery Maidan police said the victim, identified as Sabitullah, son of Hazratullah, was a shopkeeper in the vicinity.

A 16-year-old boy was electrocuted in Shah Faisal Colony.

The police said Babar, son of Abdullah, was playing in the Taimuria Ground and he was killed when he received an electric shock from the grill.

A six-year-old girl was critically wounded when she was hit by a stray bullet near Tibet Centre. The Nabi Bakhsh police identified her as Arshmina.
