Two women jailed in drug cases

RAWALPINDI, Aug 4: An additional district and sessions judge here on Monday handed down jail sentences to two women for smuggling narcotics.

Judge Ghulam Mehdi Khan sentenced Mukhtaran Bibi and Begum Bibi for one year in prison each in separate cases registered with the Civil Lines police station. The convicted women will also have to pay Rs5,000 each as fine, and in case of non-payment, they will have to undergo an additional one-month imprisonment. The police had taken Begum Bibi into custody on February 14 from Civil Lines area for possessing 1,052 grams charas; while Mukhtaran Bibi was arrested on February 15 from the same locality after 1.07kg charas was seized from her possession.—Our Reporter
