Sindh squads for National Women’s Football finalised
KARACHI, Aug 9: Sadia Sheikh, general-secretary Sindh Women’s Football Association, on Saturday announced Sindh squads to take part in the fourth National Women’s Football Championship which commences from Aug 20 at the Jinnah Stadium in Islamabad.
“After trials in Karachi and Hyderabad, where we encountered much talent, we are glad to be announcing the squads for the Sindh team as well as the Diya Women’s Football Club,” she said.
Playing kits will be distributed to the squad members by Deputy Secretary, Sports, Rafia Halim at the Aga Khan Hospital Ground on Aug 13.
The 11-day event would feature 14 teams, including Lahore’s WP Club, Karachi’s Diya WFC, Burewala’s Vehari United, Rawalpindi’s Young Rising Stars, Sports Sciences of Lahore, Sindh, Punjab, Balochistan and NWFP along with other teams from the regions and organisations affiliated with the Pakistan Football Federation (PFF).
Having reached the Super Four stage in the recently concluded National Women’s Club Football Championship, Lahore’s WP Club, Karachi’s Diya WFC, Burewala’s Vehari United and Rawalpindi’s Young Rising Stars had already secured berths in the event.
Sindh squad: Sania Akhtar (goalkeeper), Hina Rafiq (second goal keeper), Tahira Ishaq (captain), Humaira Siddiqui, Hira Khan, Saba Rafiq, Kiran Yousuf, Fatima Ansari, Shaista Khan, Almas Ibrahim, Sadaf Niaz, Afshan Altaf, Lubna Naz, Solmaz Gul Afridi, Alishba Nazeer and Beenish Rauf.
Officials: Danishmand Farooqui (Vice President, Sindh), Ayesha Erum (manager), Yaqoob Baloch (coach) and Kishwar Sultana (assistant coach).
Diya WFC, Sindh, squad: Sadia Sheikh (goalkeeper), Amber Isphahani (second goalkeeper), Sarah Barkatullah (captain), Faryal Shah (vice captain), Hina Javed, Maryam Laghari, Sadia Shabbir, Khatija Kazmi, Saiqa Farid, Anila Iqbal, Afshan Fatima, Farheen Naz, Maryam Butt, Hajra Khan, Zoya Shah and Nazia Nazeer Hussain.
